Hyderabad: A 35-year-old man allegedly murdered his wife at a place of worship in Sangareddy district on Monday night following a dispute over family finances.The accused, identified as Sheikh Multan, allegedly killed his wife, Irfana, 32, after taking her to the place of worship where he worked as a caretaker.According to police, the couple had been married for about two years and had three children—two sons and a daughter. Irfana had returned to her husband’s home only 10 days ago after staying with her parents following a quarrel in Dec.“Preliminary investigation suggests the latest dispute stemmed from Multan’s decision to sell his land and spend the proceeds, while Irfana opposed the move, citing concerns about their children’s future,” Narayankhed DSP Venkat Reddy told TOI.According to Narayankhed DSP, the accused took his wife to the place of worship during the night. “Following an argument, he killed her. Our preliminary investigation indicates that the murder was premeditated,” he added.The incident came to light after the accused allegedly called his in-laws and informed them about the killing. The victim’s family subsequently approached the police, who registered a case of murder.After the incident, the accused fled the scene but was later taken into police custody. His formal arrest is yet to be announced.“We will disclose further details, including the recovery of the weapon and other aspects of the investigation, after the formal arrest,” the DSP said.
