Ahmedabad: Experts from fields including defence, quantum technology, cybersecurity and critical minerals examined the impact of evolving geopolitical dynamics on technology in the Indian context at a conference jointly organised by Dhirubhai Ambani University (DAU), Gandhinagar, and the Deccan Centre for International Relations, Chennai, on Tuesday.Participants broadly agreed that the current global environment, marked by conflicts, strategic rivalries and shifting international alignments, presents both significant opportunities and challenges for India.Lt Gen (retd) Raj Shukla, member of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), delivered the keynote address on “Warfare in the 21st Century and Future Trends”. Discussions during the conference covered a range of topics, including quantum technology and geopolitics, semiconductors and great power competition, cybersecurity and digital frontiers, and the race to secure critical minerals in an increasingly fragmented global landscape.Experts emphasised the need for diversification of supply chains and greater self-reliance in critical technologies, highlighting their importance for India’s strategic and economic security in an era of rapid geopolitical change.
