Hyderabad: Cyberabad economic offences wing (EOW) has registered a criminal case against four persons for allegedly selling assigned land to 80 people. The land is valued at Rs 3.48 crore.According to the complainant, a coconut seller from Allapur in Borabanda, the accused befriended him and later offered him the opportunity to buy plots in Patancheru.According to the complaint, Nagesh Goud and Ravi Goud convinced the complainant that they were the landlords, while G Vara Prasad, P Shivaram and Satyanarayana acted as brokers. They informed the complainant that they were going to seek permission for the layout and offered him the opportunity to purchase plots at a reduced price as part of a pre-launch offer. The complainant told the police that he had purchased two plots measuring a total of 254 square yards in 2022 and 2023, paying Rs 10 lakh in total. He paid an additional Rs 15,000 as a registration fee.“Despite repeated requests, they have neither executed the sale deed nor handed over possession of the plots,” said the complainant.Officials said that the accused had similarly defrauded 80 other buyers, collecting Rs 3.48 crore in the process. “We later found out that the land shown to us had been earmarked and that the accused had no legal right to sell it. They created a fake layout and collected money,” the complainant told the police. Officials have registered a case under Section 318 (cheating), 316 (criminal breach of trust), 338 (forgery) of BNS against Ravi Goud, G Vara Prasad, P Shivaram and Satyanarayana. Police are in the process of calling the accused to face questioning.
