Aizawl: Mizoram health and family welfare minister Lalrinpuii visited Presidency University, Bengaluru, on Tuesday to mark the start of the new academic session and interacted with students, urging them to pursue education with dedication, integrity and a strong sense of social responsibility.She was received by chancellor Nissar Ahmed, vice-chairperson Nafeesa Ahmed, vice-chancellor SJ Thiruvengadam and pro V-C Vidya Shankar Shetty.Addressing students across disciplines, Lalrinpuii congratulated freshers on beginning a new phase of their academic journey and called on senior students to lead by example. She said higher education goes beyond earning a degree, describing it as a transformative period that shapes character, builds confidence and prepares young people to become responsible citizens.The minister advised students to lead balanced and responsible lives and to stay away from drugs, violence and other harmful influences. Emphasising the growing role of technology, she called for stronger digital awareness and urged students to use technology as a tool for learning and growth rather than a distraction.Sharing experiences from her own journey, Lalrinpuii said success comes through perseverance, discipline and consistent hard work. She also toured the campus and appreciated the university’s diverse student community, noting the inclusive environment that supports students from the northeast pursuing higher education in Bengaluru.
