NEW DELHI: With the monsoon season well under way, exposed and naked electrical wires along roadsides and on utility poles remain life-threatening hazards.

On Aug 3, 2024, the National Human Rights Commission took suo motu cognisance of reports of avoidable deaths due to drowning and electrocution across Delhi-NCR following heavy rain.

Two years on and despite the recurring risk every monsoon, exposed electrical infrastructure often goes unattended, with naked live wires posing an immediate threat of electrocution.

For once, Delhi could be thankful to the monsoon for not unleashing its full fury.
