Burglars steal gold, silver worth ₹10 lakh from jewellery store
An exhaust fan fitted to a rear door was removed to gain entry

Hyderabad: Burglars broke into a jewellery store in Chandanagar during the early hours of Saturday and fled with gold and silver ornaments worth around ₹10 lakh.The burglary took place at Balaji Jewellery Shop, owned by Nookala Shiva Shankar. The theft came to light when the owner opened the shop in the morning and found that it had been ransacked. He immediately alerted the police.According to Chandanagar inspector ARE Sridhar, the offenders gained entry by removing the exhaust fan fitted above the rear door. “They then widened the opening by cutting through the door with tools before entering the shop and stealing the valuables,” the inspector added.Based on the complaint lodged by the shop owner, the burglars made away with seven tolas of gold and four kg of silver ornaments.A CLUES team visited the scene and collected forensic evidence. CCTV footage from the shop and nearby areas showed that three masked men were involved in the burglary.The Chandanagar police, along with the Special Operations Team (SOT), are investigating the case using available leads. Serilingampally DCP Ch Srinivas said that three special teams have been formed to trace and apprehend the accused.A case has been registered under Sections 305 (theft) and 331 (housebreaking by night) of the BNS.
