Pune: State minister Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil, heading the sub-committee for Maratha reservation issue, on Friday said the govt would send a detailed report on the progress of quota implementation with the timeline to activist Manoj Jarange.Vikhe Patil said he would soon meet the Maratha quota activist to convince him not to go ahead with another agitation from Aug 29. Jarange gave the call for the agitation after claiming that the state govt was not providing the benefits of Maratha reservation to eligible candidates from the community.Vikhe Patil told reporters in Ahilyanagar, “Govt made all the needed efforts to ensure the Maratha community gets reservation that can sustain the legal scrutiny. After making a decision, the implementation takes a bit of time. I want to assure Jarange that our govt is committed to the implementation of the Maratha reservation.”While Jarange criticised chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on the Maratha reservation issue, Vikhe Patil defended the latter. He said no other chief minister had taken more positive decisions for the Maratha community than Fadnavis.Vikhe Patil said, “I will send a detailed report of the decision taken by the govt for the Maratha reservation to Jarange. I will also specify the timeline for the implementation of those decisions in the same report. I am hopeful that the report will clear Jarange’s doubts.”The minister said the data of 58 lakh Kunbi references found in various documents had been shared with Jarange. “These 58 lakh references are not only from the Hyderabad Gazette but from various documents across the state. The govt has recruited experts in 25 languages to decipher the historic documents to find Kunbi references,” Vikhe Patil said.
