Jaipur: The Special Operations Group (SOG) of Rajasthan Police has arrested a 41-year-old woman who allegedly secured a government job as a patwari by using a dummy candidate to appear in the Rajasthan Staff Selection Board’s (RSSB) Patwar Recruitment Examination-2021. The accused had been absconding for nearly 18 months and carried a reward of Rs 10,000.The accused, Chunki Bai (41), was posted in the Indu Patwar Circle in Kumher, Bharatpur, after allegedly paying around Rs 5 lakh to another woman to impersonate her in the recruitment examination, police said.ADG (SOG) Vishal Bansal said the accused allegedly used a manipulated admit card carrying morphed photographs of herself and the impersonator along with forged signatures to facilitate the impersonation at an examination centre in Jaipur on Oct 23, 2021.The case was registered in 2024 after the SOG received a confidential complaint. Police booked the accused under provisions of the BNS relating to cheating, forgery, fabrication of documents and criminal conspiracy, besides the Rajasthan Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 1992.Investigators said the alleged impersonator, Nemi Bai alias Sammi alias Sumita (34), a resident of Barmer and a suspended third-grade teacher, was arrested earlier during the investigation.According to the SOG, Chunki Bai remained on the run after the FIR was registered and frequently changed locations across Deeg, Bharatpur and Jalore to evade arrest. She was eventually tracked down and arrested by an SOG team.Officials said the accused is being questioned to identify other members of the examination racket and ascertain whether similar methods were used in other recruitment examinations.
