Lucknow: A postdoctoral fellow at BBAU has filed an FIR alleging that unidentified persons orchestrated a cyber campaign to tarnish her professional reputation by creating a fake email account and sending defamatory messages to senior university officials.Police said a case has been registered and an investigation is underway.According to the complaint, the emails were circulated between July 1 and 8, around the time BBAU invited applications for the posts of assistant professor (contractual) and guest faculty, with the apparent intent of undermining her candidature in the recruitment process.During a preliminary inquiry, investigators reportedly found that although the email account had been created using a woman’s identity, it was allegedly operated by two men.She alleged that the messages were circulated within university circles, causing serious harm to her reputation and resulting in mental as well as professional distress.The woman also told police that she is a widow and the sole caregiver of her three-year-old daughter. She claimed the incident had adversely affected her career prospects and livelihood.
