GURGAON: Four people, including a woman, were arrested for allegedly posing as Delhi Police personnel and demanding Rs 25 lakh from youths after allegedly holding them hostage at a flat in Gurgaon, according to news agency PTI. The arrested accused were identified as Satvinder, Tinu, Naveen and Sana alias Sneha, all residents of Rohtak. The case was registered at Kherki Daula police station after an FIR was filed in connection with the incident at Ansal Heights Society in Sector 86. According to the complaint filed by Nitin, a resident of Kalkaji in Delhi, he had been living as a tenant in the society for the past one-and-a-half months. Nitin alleged that on Wednesday night, while he was hosting a party at his flat with three friends, a woman knocked on the door and claimed to be their neighbour. After they opened the door, the woman entered the flat with five men who claimed to be members of the Delhi Police Special Cell. The men showed identity cards and claimed they were conducting a raid over alleged illegal activities, Nitin alleged. The accused allegedly assaulted the youths and demanded Rs 25 lakh to avoid legal action. When the youths said they could not arrange the money, the accused allegedly asked them to bring the cash to the Delhi-Gurugram border, according to the complaint. One of the youths, Sagar Chauhan, was allegedly taken in a car towards Dwarka Expressway, while the others remained inside the flat. The accused allegedly threatened to kill his friends if he alerted anyone. Sagar managed to contact his friend Jagrit Luthra and shared his location. Luthra reached the spot with some associates, following which one accused, Rishi, fled, while the others escaped in the car. Luthra then informed the police and returned to the flat, where he and his associates allegedly caught three men and a woman and handed them over to the police. “The fake police identity cards used by the accused are being examined, and their criminal records are being verified,” investigating officer Sub-Inspector Jitender Kumar said. Sana was sent to judicial custody, while the other three accused were sent to four-day police remand. Efforts were being made to arrest the remaining accused involved in the case.
