Ready for uninterrupted coal supply to power plants: SCCL CMD

Hyderabad: With power demand increasing across the state during the monsoon season, Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) is fully geared up to ensure uninterrupted coal supply to thermal power stations, SCCL chairperson and managing director Buddhaprakash Jyoti said. He asked all area general managers to supply 28 to 32 rakes of quality coal every day as per the requirements of thermal power plants in the state.Speaking at a review meeting on Friday on coal production, dispatch, overburden removal, and coal quality, he stated that although continuous rains have had some impact on production from opencast mines, all areas should take adequate precautionary measures to achieve the prescribed production targets. He also instructed officials to implement special action plans to enhance production from underground mines during the monsoon season.Buddhaprakash Jyoti said SCCL was giving top priority to the power requirements of Telangana and is presently supplying 75–80% of its coal production to thermal power stations to meet the state’s electricity demand.Keeping in view of flooding in Singareni areas along the Godavari river during the monsoon, he directed that SCCL rescue teams and officials of various departments should remain fully prepared to extend immediate assistance in coordination with the local administration whenever required. He further asked officials to focus on achieving production targets in all opencast mines in line with coal output, accomplish the production targets set for the current financial year, and expedite the process of obtaining all statutory clearances for new mining projects to achieve SCCL’s long-term targets of 70 million tonnes of coal production and 500 million cubic metres of overburden removal.
