Panchkula: The local police on Wednesday chased a scooter for nearly 2 km before apprehending four youths riding it and issuing a challan of Rs 31,000 for multiple traffic violations. The vehicle was also impounded.During a checking drive, a police team spotted a scooter carrying four young men. None of the riders was wearing a helmet, while the vehicle’s registration number plate had been partially concealed with black tape.When signalled to stop, the riders allegedly ignored the instructions and sped away towards Sector 10. SHO Varinder Kumar and his team immediately gave chase and intercepted the scooter near the Sector 9/10 dividing road after pursuing it for around 2 km.During verification, police found multiple violations, including triple riding beyond the permitted capacity, riding without helmets, tampering with the number plate and attempting to evade police checking. A challan amounting to Rs 31,000 was issued, and the scooter was impounded on the spot, police said.
