Jaipur: The parents of a three-and-a-half-year-old girl alleged that their daughter was sexually assaulted at a private school in Deedwana-Kuchaman district Monday. Police registered an FIR under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and launched an investigation Tuesday.Inspector General of Police (Ajmer Range) Dr Ravi said an FIR was registered on the basis of the parents’ complaint and the case is being probed. Deputy SP Vicky Nagpal said police have detained five persons for questioning.According to the complaint, the girl returned home from school Monday looking distressed and told her mother she was unwell. She then allegedly told her parents that someone at the school touched her inappropriately.Police said the accused has not yet been identified and multiple teams are working to trace the suspect. A large crowd gathered outside the police station Tuesday night demanding swift action in the matter.The child’s statement will be recorded and a medical examination report is awaited, as part of the investigation to establish the circumstances of the alleged offence and identify the suspect.Former chief minister Ashok Gehlot condemned the incident in a post on X and urged the state govt to bring the case under the Case Officer Scheme to ensure a fast-track investigation and trial. He also sought the strictest possible punishment for the accused, if found guilty, and adequate support and security for the girl’s family.
