CHENNAI: A day after polling, there was a studied silence among political parties, as party leaders chose internal assessments and closed door meetings, avoiding the spotlight.There were no public events or statements from DMK and AIADMK. As they went into a state of introspection, they exhibited neither confidence nor concern over the poll outcome. TVK president Vijay, however, issued a statement saying this was the beginning and that there would be victory.Chief minister M K Stalin held an informal meeting with party seniors and DMK candidates from Chennai taking stock of the voting patterns, cooperation between functionaries of DMK and allies as well as the possible impact of TVK.AIADMK camp too maintained a total silence with senior leaders taking a break after the gruelling monthlong campaign. AIADMK general secretary, who was at Salem, met candidates of his own party as well as allies from Salem district during the day. He also had a brief interaction with BJP state vice president K P Ramalingam who called on him. Later, he flew to Chennai. Vijay too held internal meetings at his Chennai office with TVK seniors where he reviewed booth level data and regional performance. He issued a statement thanking voters, particularly youth and women for turning out in large number to vote, `shattering the barriers’ set by other parties. He thanked children too, for persuading their parents to support TVK. Cadres of these parties too were took a pause with party offices wearing deserted look after bustling with activity for the past few months.
