Agartala: Tripura chief minister Manik Saha on Wednesday sent a gift of the state’s Kew pineapples to Bangladesh Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, continuing an annual tradition of cross-border goodwill. The consignment included 100 packets carrying 600 premium pineapples and was routed through the Akhaura Integrated Check Post near Agartala, following customs and land port formalities.Tripura agriculture and farmers’ welfare department secretary Apurba Roy and consul officer at the Assistant High Commission of India in Chittagong, Pankajjyoti Das, attended the handover at the Akhaura border. After documentation was completed, the shipment was transferred from Indian vehicles to Bangladeshi transport at the Zero Point for onward delivery.Roy said the gesture reciprocated seasonal mangoes recently received from Bangladesh.
