Lucknow: Use of nail-fitted sticks, tear gas shells and giving electric shocks to youth and students protesting paper leaks was no less than ‘Emergency’, said Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav in Parliament on Tuesday.“The agitation was perhaps the first ever where parents participated with their children. I salute the youngsters for their morale and resolve that forced the govt to give in. Govt thought it was invincible, but the youth proved that ‘Jhukane wala chahiye … ye sarkar bhi jhukti hai (This govt also gives in if one knows how to get it done),’” Akhilesh said.Speaking during the debate on the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, the SP MP from Kannauj said: “Law was in place even when the NEET paper got leaked. This explains that it is not the law but clean intentions that are needed to plug such leaks.”Accusing BJP govt of destroying the country’s primary education, Akhilesh said govt’s own records state that 1 lakh state-run primary schools have been shut, of which 26,300 were in Uttar Pradesh.“This has been done to deprive the backward castes, Dalits and poor people. Everyone knows that the poor studied in these schools,” he said.The former UP CM said education minister Dharmendra Pradhan resigned on the demand of the youth and students to protect the Prime Minister.Jauhar univ target of hate politics: SP chiefAkhilesh said BJP govt was indulging in hate politics and was out to destroy a university named after the freedom fighter Maulana Jauhar Ali in Rampur. “BJP govt has not built a single university in the state and is now after a private university that was named after a freedom fighter. They are ready with hammers, preparing to demolish it. But you tore their clothes, used nail-studded batons against students and fired pellet guns. You even used AK-47 in Bihar,” said Mainpuri MP Dimple in Parliament on Tuesday.Dimple also took exception to an NDA MP using indecent language to describe the protesting youths and students.“We are proud that our children did not bow before the pressure exerted by govt,” she said.
