Hyderabad: Taking strong exception to the manner in which revenue authorities determined the ownership status of a disputed land parcel, Telangana high court on Tuesday summoned the Serilingampally tahsildar to appear in person on July 30 and explain the circumstances that led to the demolition of structures on the property.Justice NV Shravan Kumar issued the direction while hearing a petition filed by Pemmasani Sudha Rani, who alleged that revenue and HYDRAA authorities demolished her compound wall and a watchman room without issuing any prior notice.The court expressed shock over the manner in which authorities decide whether a parcel of land is private or govt-owned and questioned the actions of the tahsildar in writing to HYDRAA seeking demolition of structures on the disputed 350 square yard plot in Kondapur.The judge also sought to know how HYDRAA acted on the tahsildar’s request and carried out the demolition. Sudha Rani approached the court challenging what she termed the high-handed actions of the officials.Her counsel S Sridhar submitted that the petitioner had purchased the land in 1996 and subsequently got it regularised in 2008. He argued that official surveys had established that the plot in survey No. 60 was a private patta land and did not overlap with any govt land.The counsel contended that despite an earlier court order permitting the petitioner to construct a boundary wall, officials entered the property on Oct 4, 2025, and demolished the compound wall and watchman room.Alleging violations of the principles of natural justice and her constitutional rights, the petitioner sought directions to the authorities to reconstruct the demolished structures and refrain from interfering with her possession of the land.
