Pune: Four men riding a motorcycle robbed a liquor shop cashier of Rs 8.06 lakh after spraying pepper on his face around 10.55 pm on Sunday.The cashier, Hauskumar Ingale (42) of Narhe, lodged a complaint with the Narhe police on Monday morning. Inspector Ishwar Chavan said, “The incident took place on the service road of the Katraj-Dehu Road bypass near Prayeja City. Ingale was on his way to Dange Chowk in Pimpri Chinchwad to deliver the cash to a bar. The money was kept in the scooter’s storage compartment when the four assailants intercepted him, sprayed pepper on his face, robbed him of the cash, and threatened him with dire consequences before fleeing.”This was the second such robbery involving the liquor shop’s cash. “On April 12 this year, Rs 4 lakh being transported from the same liquor shop was robbed near Navale Bridge. Police later arrested two suspects in that case,” he added.“We are examining CCTV footage from the service road and the Katraj-Dehu Road bypass to identify the suspects and ascertain the registration number of the motorcycle,” Chavan said.
