Coast Guard rescues two ailing seafarers off Goa’s coastline
The injured crew members were identified as Jismsher Davitaze, 37, a Georgian national, and Arun Babu Varukattu, 34, an Indian national.

Panaji: The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) on Tuesday carried out a medical evacuation of two critically injured seafarers from a Panama-flagged merchant vessel in Goan waters. The injured crew members were identified as Jismsher Davitaze, 37, a Georgian national, and Arun Varukattu, 34, an Indian national.The crew members were working onboard the 170m-long MT Hawks Liberty, a chemical tanker on its way from Male to Mormugao. According to the Coast Guard, the two men were in immovable conditions when the vessel requested assistance.Crew from ICGS Akshay came to their aid. The Coast Guard swiftly evacuated both seafarers and transported them ashore for emergency medical care. Following the rescue operation, the two patients were shifted to a Dona Paula-based hospital for further treatment.
