Shimla: The Army Training Command (ARTRAC), Shimla, on Sunday paid tribute to the soldiers who laid down their lives during the 1999 Kargil War, marking the 27th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas with a solemn wreath-laying ceremony at the Shradhhanjali Sthal in Annandale.Lieutenant General Devendra Sharma, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, ARTRAC, led the tributes by laying a wreath on behalf of all ranks. A two-minute silence was observed as buglers sounded the Last Post in memory of the fallen soldiers of the Kargil War. Paying tribute to the Kargil heroes, Lt Gen Sharma recalled their extraordinary courage, unwavering resolve and supreme sacrifice in recapturing strategic heights under extremely hostile conditions.

He said their legacy continues to inspire the Indian Army and strengthens its commitment to safeguarding the country’s unity, integrity and sovereignty.As part of the commemorative events, the Army commander also visited the Army Heritage Museum at Annandale, where he appreciated efforts to preserve military artefacts, battle memorabilia and historical records chronicling the sacrifices of Indian soldiers across generations. The commemoration concluded with all ranks of Headquarters ARTRAC taking a pledge to uphold the highest ideals of patriotism, courage and selfless service, reaffirming that the sacrifices of the Kargil heroes will continue to inspire future generations.
