Panaji: An objection has been filed with the chief town planner (CTP) seeking the cancellation of technical clearances granted for three proposed farmhouses near the heritage Monte chapel in Old Goa, alleging that the approvals were issued despite the plots lacking mandatory road access and being partly affected by a Konkan Railway tunnel.The objection has been submitted by activist Joseph Marques, who has urged the town and country planning (TCP) department to revoke the technical clearances to prevent them from “being used for future construction,” or for renewal of the approvals at a later stage.In his petition, Marques contended that the plots do not fulfil the mandatory requirement of road access, making them ineligible for technical clearance.

He alleged that a portion of the land is affected by the Konkan Railway tunnel.Marques has also demanded that the TCP department initiate action against officials responsible for issuing the clearances, alleging that the approvals were granted despite the alleged deficiencies in the proposal.TOI had reported last week that the residents of Old Goa on Sunday staged a peaceful protest march near Monte Chapel, demanding that the TCP department immediately review approvals granted for proposed farmhouse developments in the area. The Save Old Goa Action Committee (SOGAC) stated that they obtained copies of three plans approved by the TCP department, prompting concerns over how construction permissions were granted in the area that is close to the Unesco world heritage site.
