HYDERABAD: BRS leader Manne Krishank and seven of his associates were arrested on Thursday night for allegedly assaulting a local Congress worker from Kukatpally over a social media post.According to police, the complainant, G Rajendra Kumar, lodged a complaint in the afternoon alleging that Krishank, along with 20 of his supporters, trespassed into his house in Kukatpally on Thursday and assaulted him for putting up a social media post against Krishank.“The complainant alleged that Krishank and others damaged his property, assaulted him while threatening to harm him, and they also forcibly took away his phone. The victim suffered minor injuries in the assault,” Balanagar ACP P Naresh Reddy said.Based on the complaint of Rajendra Kumar, Kukatpally police booked a case against Krishank and others on the charges of trespass, assault, and extortion. “We arrested Krishank and seven of his supporters on Thursday,” Kukatpally inspector KV Subba Rao said.All the accused would be produced before a magistrate for judicial remand. After the arrest, while he was being taken to the magistrate, Krishank spoke to the media. “Since last one week, we have been questioning illegalities in distribution of mobile phones to Anganwadi teachers. As part of the BRS fact-finding committee into illegal mining at Kotwalguda, I also visited the site along with party senior leaders. Because of those things, a false case was registered against me and we will legally fight it,” Krishank added.
