Jaipur: Power cuts continue to dog energy minister Hiralal Nagar, with a supply failure during a solar industry event at a star hotel Friday briefly plunging the venue hall into darkness. The disruption interrupted proceedings and intensified public scrutiny of the state’s power infrastructure. The latest incident comes within a week of another outage at a development review meeting chaired by Nagar at the Kota Zila Parishad auditorium.Earlier, Union minister Ashwini Vaishnaw’s news conference at the BJP state headquarters where Nagar was present was hit by repeated failures, prompting the energy minister to order an inquiry and disciplinary action against power department staff.Officials restored supply after a short interruption on Friday, allowing the programme to continue. But repeated breakdowns at high-profile events attended by Nagar have not only caused embarrassment to the minister, but fueled debate over grid reliability, maintenance standards, and backup preparedness.Power cuts during Nagar’s engagements first drew attention on May 30 in Kota, when he said his own house had suffered ten supply trips since morning.Energy experts said that while Rajasthan has expanded generation capacity, transmission infrastructure has lagged, causing outages from technical faults, equipment failures, and inadequate backup systems.
