Gandhinagar: The role of secretariat officer in the administrative system is crucial as decisions made at this level have long-lasting effects on governance, said chief secretary Manoj Das, while inaugurating a three-day special training workshop for deputy secretary-level officers. The training programme is being organised by Sardar Patel Institute of Public Administration (SPIPA) between April 23 and 25.The CS said resolutions made at the secretariat level in the past continue to impact the lives of lakhs of citizens, so our decisions should be correct, for the public good, and precise. He also urged the officers to adapt quickly to the increasing use of artificial intelligence and new technologies in governance. “In an age where AI and new technologies are advancing at double the speed every two years, it is essential for officers to continuously update and train themselves with modern technology,” an official statement quoted the CS as saying.The workshop, being held on the subject of “Enhancing Administrative Capacities and Leadership,” will cover various topics like administrative capacity, development and leadership qualities, good governance, cyber security and digital challenges, public procurement, public financial management, court-related matters and policy formulation, the statement said.
