Lucknow: Newly appointed Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) working president for UP, Anupam Mishra on Thursday pledged to strengthen the party’s organisation down to the booth level, saying the responsibility entrusted to him by RLD chief and Union minister Jayant Chaudhary was not merely a position but a mandate linked to the aspirations of lakhs of party workers.Addressing party functionaries and workers at the party state headquarters during his first visit after assuming charge, Mishra thanked Chaudhary for reposing faith in him. Mishra said that he would discharge the responsibility with “full commitment, honesty and dedication”.Calling party workers the organisation’s “greatest strength”, Mishra said the RLD would launch an extensive campaign to reinforce its structure across divisions, districts, Assembly segments, blocks and booths in the coming months. He said the party would seek to combine the experience of senior functionaries with the enthusiasm of youth workers to give the organisation a new direction.He added that long-serving workers would be given due recognition and responsibilities, while efforts would be intensified to connect more youth, farmers, women, traders, teachers and other sections of society with the party.Earlier in the day, Mishra paid floral tributes to Bharat Ratna and former Prime Minister Chaudhary Charan Singh, whose statue at the state headquarters was specially decorated.
