Varanasi: To ensure smooth supply of domestic Piped Natural Gas (PNG) in railway colonies in Varanasi, the Varanasi division of North Eastern Railway (NER) on Wedesday signed an MoU with GAIL India Limited.The MoU was signed by senior divisional engineer (Coordination) Vikas Kumar Singh and , GAIL India Ltd GM Sushil Kumar in the presence of divisional railway manager Ashish Jain.The DRM said that introduction of PNG supply in railway colonies would provide employees and officers with safe, uninterrupted, eco-friendly and convenient gas supply. It would reduce dependence on LPG cylinders, ensure transparent meter-based billing and significantly improve the living standards and residential facilities of railway employees.Under this agreement, PNG connections will be provided in a phased manner to railway residences and railway institutions in Varanasi’s railway colonies. The initiative will provide railway employees and their families with access to safe, convenient, reliable and clean fuel, improving their quality of life while also promoting environmental protection.
