Patiala: A woman and her alleged paramour have been booked for the murder of her 42-year-old husband in Punjab’s Patiala district after he died from injuries that the family claims were initially passed off as the result of a fall from a staircase.The deceased, Sukhwinder Singh of Harimajra village in Ghanaur, died at PGIMER, Chandigarh, after being shifted from Rajindra Hospital, Patiala. Police registered an FIR for murder and criminal conspiracy on the complaint of his brother-in-law, who alleged that the victim had repeatedly quarrelled with his wife over her alleged extramarital relationship with a man from the same village and suspected he had been murdered.According to police, Sukhwinder and his wife had been married for about 17 years and have five minor children, including four daughters.Ghanaur SHO Gurmukh Singh said no arrests had been made so far and the investigation was underway. The post-mortem has been conducted and the report is awaited.Police said they are examining the sequence of events that led to Sukhwinder’s injuries and have not ruled out any angle.
