Rajkot: A 20-year-old man was killed after the SUV he was driving crashed into a power transformer and an electricity pole near Ramrechi village in Talala taluka of Gir Somnath district shortly after midnight on Monday.Akshat Solanki was driving from his native Jetpur towards Talala when he lost control of the luxury SUV while negotiating a bend near the village water tank at Ramrechi. The vehicle veered off the road and rammed into a Paschim Gujarat Vij Company Ltd (PGVCL) transformer and an adjacent electricity pole.Local residents and the victim’s family members rushed to the spot, but rescue efforts were delayed as live electric wires had fallen after the collision, posing a risk of electrocution. PGVCL officials disconnected the power supply before rescuers could safely extricate Akshat from the mangled vehicle.He was taken to Talala Govt Hospital with critical injuries, where doctors declared him dead on arrival. After the post-mortem, Talala police registered a case of accidental death under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Motor Vehicles Act.
