Hyderabad: Telangana BJP on Monday alleged that Congress and AIMIM leaders were intimidating booth level officers (BLOs) and creating hurdles in the SIR of electoral rolls in Hyderabad, Secunderabad, Malkajgiri and Chevella parliamentary constituencies. A BJP delegation, led by state president N Ramchander Rao, met chief electoral officer (CEO) C Sudharshan Reddy and submitted a memorandum alleging irregularities in the voter registration process ahead of the Aug 3 deadline for completing the exercise.Addressing the media, Ramchander Rao claimed that eligible voters, especially IT employees and migrants from other states who have settled in Hyderabad and its suburbs, were facing difficulties in getting their names enrolled in the electoral rolls. He alleged that Congress and AIMIM workers were exerting pressure on BLOs and attempting to prevent the registration of voters perceived to be supportive of BJP. He said he had personally witnessed such incidents in the Karwan assembly constituency.Stating that any Indian citizen has the constitutional right to register as a voter at their place of residence, Rao said attempts to prevent eligible residents from enrolling in constituencies such as Malkajgiri and Chevella violated EC norms. The BJP state president also urged the CEO to immediately clear the pending dues of BLOs from 2025 and provide them with the necessary support. According to BJP leaders, the CEO assured the delegation that the complaints would be examined and appropriate action would be taken to safeguard voters’ rights.
