Over 60k school students put their analytical skills  to test at IIT-G’s Technothlon 2026

Guwahati: IIT-Guwahati’s Technothlon preliminary round drew a record 60,000-plus students from India and abroad this year.The 23rd edition of the flagship international school championship of Techniche, IIT-Guwahati, was open to students of Classes 9 to 12. The theme-based logic examination tests reasoning, creativity and analytical skills beyond the regular school curriculum.Students from Kendriya Vidyalayas, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas, Army Public Schools, coaching institutes and other institutions took part. Organised entirely by IIT-Guwahati students, Technothlon has promoted innovative thinking among schoolchildren for more than two decades.Techniche 2026 convener Uday Ingle said, “Technothlon has always been more than a competition — it is a platform that encourages students to think critically, question fearlessly and embrace the joy of learning. The overwhelming participation this year reflects the growing enthusiasm among young minds for exploring knowledge beyond the classroom.”The top 25 teams, each from the Hauts and Juniors categories, will qualify for the Technothlon Mains, to be held on the IIT-Guwahati campus during Techniche in Aug.Organisers said the Grand Champions of each squad will receive cash prizes worth more than Rs 2.7 lakh and an educational visit to Isro.
