Amritsar: The Amritsar police claims to have busted a cross-border drug and arms smuggling module with the arrest of three accused and seizure of 915gm ICE (methamphetamine), five sophisticated pistols from their possession.Commissioner of Police (CP) Amritsar Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said . the recovered pistols included two 9mm Glock and three .30 bore pistols along with two live cartridges.The preliminary investigation has revealed that the arrested were in contact with Pakistan-based smugglers through social media platforms and were receiving contraband through drones from across the border. They were acting as local handlers for the distribution of drugs and illegal arms, he added.The CP said probe had revealed that the consignment of drugs and weapons was dropped in densely forested areas of Ferozepur sector. The accused used to retrieve these consignments from there and supply them to different areas, he added.The police have registered a case under the NDPS Act and the Arms Act at Gate Hakima police station in Amritsar.
