CHANDIGARH: In a major international operation, two notorious gangsters have been arrested in the African nation of Angola following a coordinated effort by the Punjab and Haryana Police along with central intelligence agencies.The successful crackdown on foreign soil was initiated based on crucial intelligence provided by the intelligence agencies, Haryana Special Task Force (STF) and the CBI.The arrested fugitives have been identified as Varinder, alias Joban Saidoke, and Manjot. Varinder was a highly sought-after criminal in Punjab, wanted in connection with four sensational murder cases.Recognizing the severity of his crimes, the Punjab government had previously announced a reward of Rs 5 lakh for information leading to his arrest.His associate, Manjot, was wanted for his involvement in several criminal cases across Haryana. Both individuals are reported to be active operatives of the infamous Gopi Ghanshampuria and Dony Bal gangs.The apprehension of the duo is the result of relentless pursuit by Indian authorities. The Punjab Police had successfully secured Red Corner Notices against both gangsters and maintained continuous communication with international law enforcement agencies to track their movements.Following their successful arrest in Angola, Indian authorities have now initiated the formal process to extradite both Varinder and Manjot back to India.This high-profile operation underscores the tightening grip of the Punjab and Haryana police forces on transnational criminal networks, demonstrating that fleeing abroad no longer guarantees safety for regional gangsters.
