Ban on breeding farm pigs lifted in Amritsar village

Amritsar: The Amritsar district administration has lifted its ban on the movement and breeding of farm pigs in Dhariwal Kaler villge of Amritsar district, said an animal and husbandry department official on Wednesday. The official added the ban had been imposed on the movement of farm pigs in the village after an outbreak of African swine fever in Sept last year. The restrictions had been imposed within a kilometre of the farm where the outbreak was reported. The official said the decision was taken after farm pigs were found healthy in tests carried out twice by the animal and husbandry department. MSID:: 130439275 413 |
