Prime Minister Narendra Modi Friday virtually inaugurated eight redeveloped Amrit Bharat railway stations in Rajasthan as part of the launch of 75 modernised stations across the country from Jalandhar Cantonment in Punjab

Jaipur/Jaisalmer: Prime Minister Narendra Modi Friday virtually inaugurated eight redeveloped Amrit Bharat railway stations in Rajasthan as part of the launch of 75 modernised stations across the country from Jalandhar Cantonment in Punjab.The redeveloped stations in Rajasthan are Barmer, Dausa, Deeg, Gangapur City, Gotan, Jaisalmer, Khairthal and Somesar. The inauguration marks another phase of the Centre’s Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, aimed at upgrading railway stations with modern infrastructure, improved passenger amenities and better accessibility.Modi was joined by Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria, Union railway minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and Union minister of state for railways Ravneet Singh.Talking to TOI, North Western Railway chief public relations officer Amit Sudarshan said, “All eight Rajasthan stations participated in the inauguration through video conferencing, with local public representatives and residents attending ceremonies at their respective stations. These stations now have better amenities for the passengers.”At Dausa, Bagde said the upgraded station would accelerate the region’s social and economic development. Speaking at the Gotan railway station, Sharma described the redevelopment as a key driver of Nagaur’s economic growth.Union culture and tourism minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat hailed the redevelopment of Jaisalmer station as a landmark for the border district, while Union environment minister Bhupender Yadav said the upgraded Khairthal station reflected the Centre’s continued focus on regional development.Under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, the stations have been redesigned with modern architecture and upgraded passenger facilities to provide a safer, more convenient and comfortable travel experience.
