Jaipur: Hosts Vidyasthali Public School, Durgapura started with their campaign on a rousing note by defeating Vivek Techno School in the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Cluster-14 Inter-School Basketball Championship which got underway at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium basketball courts here on Friday.On the other hand, St Edmunds beat Mahavir Public School, St Anselm Ajmer downed DPS Udaipur, Modern School outclassed Narayana School, Sophia Senior Secondary School Kota trounced Gudha International School Neemkathana, Tagore International thumped Neerja Modi, Jaipuria accounted for Dharav High School, Army Public School prevailed over Mahavir High School, Rukmani Birla Modern High School dismissed Mahavir School, while Alpha International got the better of Prince International Jhunjhunu to enter the second round.Earlier, former Olympian and national president of Krida Bharti, Gopal Saini, and founder Vice Chancellor of Kota University, Prof BL Verma, inaugurated the four-day tournament by lighting the sports torch.Vidyasthali Group of Education secretary Yogendra Singh and school Principal Dr Sandhya Singh welcomed the guests. Yogendra Singh informed that more than two thousand players from a total of 233 teams in the Under-14, Under-17 and Under-19 age groups are participating in the competition. The final matches of the competition will be played on July 20 (Monday).
