Jaipur: Rajasthan Police Friday demolished the alleged illegally acquired property of a close aide of fugitive gangster Rohit Godara in Bikaner as part of a statewide crackdown aimed at dismantling the financial networks of organised crime syndicates. The accused, Hariom Ramawat, a history-sheeter from Bikaner’s Gangashahar area, is allegedly an active member of the Godara gang. He has been absconding and is wanted in around 20 criminal cases, including attempt to murder, robbery, dacoity, extortion, public firing and criminal intimidation.Police said the demolition was carried out jointly with the district administration under a campaign targeting properties allegedly acquired through proceeds of crime. Officials said the strategy is intended to weaken the financial backbone of organised crime syndicates, even when key members remain absconding. The operation was carried out after following due legal procedure and remained peaceful, police said.Officials added that technical surveillance and field operations are under way to trace Ramawat. They said similar action would be taken against other gang members and those found providing shelter or assistance to fugitive criminals.
