Shimla: To provide quality healthcare closer to the doorstep of people, chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Thursday announced the installation of 1.5 Tesla MRI machines at regional hospitals in Bilaspur, Kullu, Una and Solan, Kinnaur district hospital; Dr YS Parmar Govt Medical College and Hospital at Nahan; Dharamshala zonal hospital; and Palampur civil hospital.While chairing a meeting of the health department, the CM said advanced 3 Tesla MRI machines are also being set up in all the seven govt medical colleges to enhance specialised diagnostic services. Digital mammography machines will be installed at hospitals in Nahan, Hamirpur, Bilaspur, Solan and Dharamshala to improve early detection of breast diseases. The state was also procuring 42 handheld X-ray machines, with 14 already received, for deployment in remote areas to strengthen tuberculosis screening, he added.Additionally, 256-slice CT scan machines will be installed at five major govt medical institutions, while digital X-ray and 4D ultrasound machines will be supplied to various healthcare centres. He said that all seven medical colleges would soon be equipped with the required paramedical staff.Sukhu directed officials to procure equipment as per the AIIMS standards, strengthen radiology departments, expedite recruitment of doctors and paramedical staff, and ensure timely availability of quality medicines to provide world-class healthcare within Himachal Pradesh.
