Hyderabad: In a major anti-encroachment initiative, HYDRAA on Thursday secured a 3.63 acre govt land parcel adjoining Banjara Lake in Banjara Hills, estimated to be worth over Rs 600 crore, following complaints of repeated attempts to grab the property.HYDRAA fenced the land and erected signboards detailing its legal status to safeguard it until ongoing litigation is resolved. The land, located on Road No. 13, is an unrecognised plot in the Nizam-era Jubilee Hills municipality layout and is currently under dispute in court. Acting on representations from the Banjara Hills lake protection committee and local residents, HYDRAA moved to protect the property from alleged encroachments. Residents had urged authorities to preserve the land and develop it as a public park.In a separate operation, HYDRAA reclaimed and fenced an 800 square yard park site in Venkatadri Nagar of Hayathnagar mandal in Rangareddy district. The land, earmarked as a park in a 1975 layout, had allegedly been sold illegally as residential plots and subsequently encroached upon despite a court ruling affirming its status as park land.HYDRAA removed the encroachments, installed fencing and erected signboards. The property is valued at around Rs 3 crore. The agency also protected two 500 square yard park sites in Anaghapuri Colony, Boduppal, by demolishing illegal boundary walls and fencing the plots. The reclaimed 1,000 square yards of park land is estimated to be worth about Rs 6 crore.
