Punjab Congress president Amrinder Singh Raja Warring backs Partap Singh Bajwa, alleges pressure on Cong councillors

Chandigarh: Punjab Congress president Amrinder Singh Raja Warring on Thursday backed party MLA and Punjab leader of opposition Partap Singh Bajwa amid his standoff with the AAP govt and alleged that Congress councillors in Qadian had been subjected to pressure by the incumbent AAP.Praising Bajwa for “standing up to the intimidation” by the AAP govt, Warring assured him of the party’s full support and said the Congress would continue to oppose what he described as the ruling party’s “criminal intimidation”.In a video message, Warring alleged that Congress councillors in Qadian had been forcibly taken away by supporters of the AAP. “So far we have seen intimidation, but what happened today is the outright abduction of duly elected Congress councillors,” he claimed. He also accused some police and civil administration officials of acting in concert with the AAP and warned that they would be held accountable if the Congress returned to power.Targeting the AAP, Warring claimed the Congress had performed well in the municipal elections despite “intimidation” and asserted that the party would perform even better in the assembly polls.
