CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu chief minister C Joseph Vijay on Thursday warned ministers that anyone found involved in corruption or policy irregularities would be removed from the cabinet, reiterating his govt’s commitment to “clean governance.“Chairing a cabinet meeting at the secretariat, Vijay directed ministers to ensure that there was no corruption in their respective departments and that govt services were delivered to people without bribery. “I did not come here just for a five-year tenure. People have reposed their faith in us, and we must live up to their expectations. Our promise of clean governance should be reflected in action,” a minister quoted the CM as saying during the cabinet meeting.Vijay made it clear that strict action would be taken against anyone found guilty, irrespective of their position, and asked ministers to enforce the govt’s anti-corruption stand without exception. He directed ministers to curb the growing practice of filming and sharing reels on school and college campuses. The directive comes amid criticism over videos filmed inside educational institutions involving TVK functionaries. The opposition has repeatedly attacked the govt over what it calls the “reels culture” since TVK assumed office.Ministers were instructed to ensure that educational institutions remained free from such activities and that officials strictly enforced the govt’s directions.
