Gurgaon: MCG on Wednesday suspended a junior engineer (JE) following directions from the chief minister’s office (CMO) over alleged irregularities in enforcement action against illegal constructions in Bhondsi.The suspension order, issued by MCG commissioner Pradeep Dahiya, states that the JE has been placed under suspension with immediate effect. A separate communication from the CMO also directed the suspension of an assistant engineer (AE). However, MCG officials said the suspension of an AE can only be ordered by the director of the urban local bodies (ULB) department, and the order is still awaited.Officials said the case relates to demolition action against structures located beneath an HVPNL transmission line in Bhondsi. While several structures were allegedly encroaching on the transmission corridor, only one house was demolished.“The allegations are that only one structure obstructing the HVPNL transmission line was demolished by the JE while others were left untouched, allegedly in exchange for bribes,” an MCG official familiar with the matter said.The suspension order states that a departmental chargesheet will be issued separately under the applicable service rules. During the suspension period, the officer has been directed not to leave the designated headquarters without prior permission and will be entitled to a subsistence allowance under Haryana Civil Services Rules. The suspended officer has been directed to report to the office of the municipal commissioner, Hisar, which has been designated as the headquarters during the suspension period.MCG officials said the order suspending the assistant engineer is yet to be issued.
