Noida: Poor sanitation, inadequate street lighting, damaged roads and an inefficient sewer network have emerged as key civic concerns in Greater Noida’s Ecotech-3 industrial area, with entrepreneurs demanding intervention.The president of the Industrial Business Association (IBA), Amit Upadhyay, raised the issues with GNIDA officials, emphasising the need for urgent corrective action to enhance the living and working conditions in the area. Following this, the additional chief executive officer (ACEO) of GNIDA, Sumit Yadav, along with other department officials, conducted a comprehensive on-site inspection of the area.Yadav immediately instructed the clearing of garbage piles, ensuring regular sanitation and making drainage systems monsoon-ready through intensive cleaning. The department also carried out temporary repairs of potholes using stone aggregates and road rollers to facilitate smoother commutes for industrial vehicles and residents. Additionally, he mandated quality assurance in ongoing road-widening projects and expedited the construction of a new reinforced cement concrete (RCC) drain.“The ACEO inspected critical infrastructure, including under-construction culverts and drainage connections, pledging that entrepreneurs must not face any hardship due to infrastructural shortcomings,” said Upadhyay.Upadhyay reported the start of the waterlogging mitigation drive under the district magistrate and GNIDA CEO NG Ravi Kumar. “This initiative focuses on filling potholes with stone aggregates and improving drainage systems across both industrial and residential sectors,” he said.Meanwhile, Noida’s RWA federation has made a formal appeal to Authority CEO Krishna Karunesh to seek the reinstatement of the independent public health department, arguing that its merger with different work circles in Jan slackened sanitation in the city.The recent rearrangement of staff of the public health department and the transfer of its responsibilities to various circle officers affected routine garbage collection, fogging against mosquitoes and other work related to community dogs, sterilisation, etc., since the dedicated staff were busy with other civic works — roads, sewers and infrastructure.In a letter to Karunesh, FONRWA Secretary General KK Jain highlighted Noida’s top rank for cities with a 3-10 lakh population in the Swachh Survekshan 2024-25, praising the public health department. However, he warned that transferring the department to different Noida Authority work circles has ruined its efficiency.The redressal of critical works, such as solid waste management, sanitation inspections and the prevention of vector-borne diseases, has suffered. Jain stated that if these operational issues are not fixed immediately, Noida’s sanitation ranking and reputation will drop.FONRWA has particularly noted the escalating issue of stray dogs, alongside garbage disposal challenges, sanitation monitoring and the provision of public health services. A response from Noida Authority is awaited on the matter.
