Hyderabad: Telangana chief minister A Revanth Reddy on Wednesday urged Amazon to further deepen its presence in the state and set an investment target of Rs 1 lakh crore by 2034. Amazon has already committed an investment of Rs 60,000 crore in Telangana over the next 10 years in setting up data centre infrastructure.Amazon was allotted 202 acres in Bharat Future City for what is being touted as one of the largest hyperscale data centres in the country. In addition to this, it was allotted 98 acres in Chandanvelly for another data centre project.Addressing the gathering at the groundbreaking ceremony for the tech giant’s new hyperscale data centre at Bharat Future City, the CM said Amazon’s expansion would give a major push to the state’s flagship Future City project and help attract more global technology companies, industries and allied investments.He said the data centre would accelerate infrastructure development, employment generation and economic activity in the proposed urban hub.The chief minister said Telangana was positioning Bharat Future City as a key growth engine under the “Telangana Rising-2047” vision, which aims to make the state a $1 trillion economy by 2034 and a $3 trillion economy by 2047.He said the state govt wanted Telangana’s contribution to India’s GDP to rise from the present 5% to 10% as part of the national goal of building a $30 trillion economy by 2047.Reddy said the govt mapped the state into CURE, PURE and RARE zones to guide rapid and balanced development.He added that policies were being framed for industry, tourism, energy, health and sports, while a dedicated mechanism would monitor major investments. A special monthly review meeting would be held on Amazon’s projects, he said.Assuring full support to investors, the CM said the govt would provide required infrastructure, facilities and timely clearances for industries.He said Hyderabad has already emerged as a global model with the Outer Ring Road, international airport, IT sector and pharma ecosystem, but the next phase needs to focus on jobs, clean mobility and sustainable urban growth.Reddy said plans were being implemented to make Hyderabad pollution-free, including conversion of 3 lakh RTC buses into electric buses and retrofitting 2 lakh diesel autorickshaws into electric vehicles. The state also waived off registration taxes for electric vehicles despite annual revenue loss of Rs 1,500 crore.He said the Young India Skill University was set up to improve employability and support investors’ workforce needs.Directing officials to address concerns of farmers who gave land for Bharat Future City, the Regional Ring Road and radial roads, he said adequate compensation must be paid and minor disputes resolved quickly. He asked IT and industries minister D Sridhar Babu and former MLA K Laxma Reddy to meet farmers soon.
