Ahmedabad: A passenger train coach at the Sabarmati Kaligam railway yard caught fire on Tuesday afternoon. There were no casualties as the coach was not in service at the time of the incident, Ahmedabad Fire and Emergency Services (AFES) officers said.According to AFES officers, railway staff alerted the fire control room as flames spread through the coach within minutes. Four fire tenders were rushed to the yard. Firefighters used water jets from multiple sides to prevent flames from spreading to nearby coaches. The coach was was isolated as a precautionary measure.AFES officers said the cause of the fire was not immediately known. Railway authorities are inquiring how the fire started and if maintenance work was being carried out on the coach when the incident occurred. Officials said the investigation will examine the condition of the coach, the sequence of events leading to the fire and any other factors that may have contributed to the incident.
