Lucknow: Scattered rain in several parts of the city on Tuesday afternoon brought relief from humid conditions, but also led to waterlogging in some areas. India Meteorological Department has forecast hot and humid weather on Wednesday, with no widespread rainfall likely over next few days.Weather changed around 3 pm as dark clouds gathered over the city, followed by showers in several localities. Around 20 mm of rain was recorded in parts of Lucknow by evening.On Tuesday, city recorded maximum temperature of 37.9 degrees Celsius, 3.8 degrees above normal and minimum 29 degrees Celsius, 3.1 degrees above normal. Relative humidity ranged between 48% and 75%.On Wednesday, maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to be around 39 degrees Celsius and 29 degrees Celsius, respectively.Senior scientist at the Regional Meteorological Centre, Mohammad Danish, said scattered rain was triggered by a local low-pressure system over Lucknow and adjoining areas, along with slight shift in monsoon trough from Himalayan foothills. “Rainfall activity may remain limited across the region over next few days, while hot and humid conditions will prevail in most areas,” he said.Elsewhere in UP, Prayagraj was the hottest place on Tuesday, with maximum temperature of 39.6 degrees Celsius, 5.1 degrees above normal. Orai recorded 39.4 degrees Celsius and Banda 38.6 degrees Celsius.IMD forecast rain and thundershowers at isolated places across UP on Wednesday. Hot and humid conditions are also likely at isolated places despite possibility of scattered rainfall. The Terai region is expected to receive isolated thundershowers.
