Rajkot: A constable, Bhagirathsinh Vaghela, was found allegedly running a gambling den in Gondal town of Rajkot district. The racket was busted after a team from the squad of the Rajkot Range inspector general of police raided his residence on Monday.Police raided Vaghela’s house and seized cash and other materials worth Rs 1.35 lakh. While Vaghela is still at large, police apprehended 13 women who were allegedly gambling there.According to police, the raid was led by sub-inspector B C Miyatra after receiving intelligence that Vaghela was facilitating gambling at his house by inviting people and taking a commission from each round of gambling.Police sources said the action also led to departmental measures. After the exposure of the alleged gambling den, operating in the jurisdiction of Gondal City B Division police station, six personnel attached to the station’s surveillance squad have been transferred to police headquarters.Sources further said that Bhagirathsinh Vaghela has been suspended pending further investigation. He was posted in the office of the deputy superintendent of police (DySP), Gondal division.
