Gandhinagar: State health minister Praful Pansheriya convened a meeting in Gandhinagar on Monday to assess the situation of the Chandipura virus outbreak in the state. The minister asked health department staff to accelerate virus control measures, patient treatment, and surveillance activities across the state.Pansheriya said that laboratory testing is being carried out swiftly to ensure accurate diagnosis of the Chandipura virus. Out of samples from 27 suspected cases, results for 19 have already been received. Of these, seven tested positive and 12 negative. The results of the remaining eight samples are still awaited and are expected soon, he said.According to the govt, three children who tested positive for the Chandipura virus have died.The minister stated that, with assistance from the Indian Medical Association, the health department has issued guidelines to all child specialists in the state and asked them to remain in coordination with the Gandhinagar headquarters. Doctors running small centres and private clinics have also been instructed that if any suspected case is detected, the child should be given primary treatment and then immediately referred, without delay, to a larger hospital equipped with oxygen and ventilator facilities.
