Gurgaon: A 26-year-old taxi driver was arrested on Sunday for allegedly driving rashly, injuring a motorcyclist in Sector 51, and later assaulting police personnel who reached the spot.The accused, Ajay Kumar, a native of Madhubani in Bihar who was living in rented accommodation in the city, was arrested by a team from Sector 50 police station. Police also seized the Swift taxi allegedly involved in the incident.According to police, the accident occurred on Sunday morning when the motorcyclist was returning home after work. As he approached Ocus Mall in Sector 51, a Swift car allegedly hit his motorcycle from behind at high speed, causing him to sustain injuries and damaging the two-wheeler.The injured biker was taken to the civil hospital in Sector 10A, where doctors treated him and later declared him fit to give a statement. Based on his complaint, an FIR was registered at Sector 50 police station under the provisions of BNS for rash and negligent driving causing injury.Police said the taxi driver was taken to the police station by an emergency response vehicle team. ERV in-charge head constable Harendra, in a separate complaint, alleged that the accused misbehaved with the police team, assaulted personnel and obstructed them from discharging their official duties when they responded to the accident.During questioning, Kumar allegedly admitted that the accident occurred while he was driving the car at high speed in a rash and negligent manner.
