Churachandpur: A 13-hour shutdown called by the Zomi Coordination Committee (ZCC), backed by Kuki civil society, Hmar village defence, ZSF, KSO, HSA and defence committees of localities and villages, paralysed Churachandpur district on Wednesday, with organisers demanding justice for Thanlon MLA late Vungzagin Valte.The shutdown began at 5:00am and concluded at 6:00pm. During the shutdown, all shops, commercial establishments, educational institutions, offices, and public transport have ceased operations.Valte, who died on Feb 21 2026, at Medanta Hospital, Gurugram, after being attacked by mobs on May 4, 2023.Approved ambulances remain stationed at designated locations for medical emergencies. All other services, including pharmacies and water supply, have been suspended for the duration of the shutdown.
