2 Jalaun constables among 6 held as Jhansi police crack Rs 24.9 lakh robbery in 24 hours
Jhansi Police arrested six individuals, including two serving Uttar Pradesh Police constables, in a robbery case.

LUCKNOW: Two serving Uttar Pradesh Police constables posted in Jalaun were among six persons arrested after Jhansi Police cracked a sensational Rs 24.9-lakh robbery case within 24 hours, recovering Rs 24.5 lakh in cash and the Creta SUV allegedly used in the crime.Police said the robbery was part of a pre-planned conspiracy allegedly hatched to recover money lost in online betting. The arrested constables have been identified as Raghvendra Rajput, 30, and Manoj, 29, both posted at the Jalaun Police Lines. The other accused are Suryansh Yadav, 20, Gaurav Yadav, 26, Sukhbir, 24, and Suraj Singh, 24.The case was registered at Kotwali police station after Kishan Dilipbhai Panchal, a resident of Ahmedabad currently staying in Jhansi, alleged that he and his associate were assaulted and robbed of Rs 24.9 lakh on July 12.According to police, CCTV footage, technical surveillance and field investigation led to the arrest of all six accused within a day. Investigators recovered Rs 24.5 lakh in cash along with the Creta SUV (UP 93 CD 8450) allegedly used to execute the robbery.During interrogation, Suryansh Yadav allegedly disclosed that he had incurred heavy losses in online betting and owed Rs 24.9 lakh to operators based in Satna, Madhya Pradesh.Police alleged that, to avoid repaying the amount, he conspired with his relatives, friends and the two constables to stage the robbery.Investigators said Suryansh allegedly informed the betting operators that the payment was ready and asked them to send a representative to collect the cash.Acting on the instructions, Kishan Panchal, allegedly a collection agent, arrived in Jhansi.Police alleged that after the cash was handed over, the accused intercepted him and robbed him, making it appear as though unidentified criminals had committed the offence. The stolen money was then allegedly routed back to Suryansh through his associates.Police said Constable Raghvendra Rajput allegedly played a key role in the conspiracy by joining the plan and bringing in fellow constables to facilitate the crime, while the remaining accused arranged the vehicle and executed the robbery.Four more accused, including Constable Neeraj Rajput, Ankit Yadav and alleged betting operators Nitin Tejwani and Sanskar Tejwani of Satna, have been identified and are absconding.Police said efforts are underway to arrest them while further investigation is in progress to probe the alleged online betting and hawala links behind the conspiracy.
